The Joy of Charity - Be Great at Doing Good

Generosity is Both Right and Rewarding. There was a man they called him mad…but the more he gave, the more he had.

Getting Started with Charity. Generous people are almost always more successful than those who greedily hold on to everything that comes within their. Practice generosity whether you have a little or a lot. Start by being generous with honest compliments and encouragement. Give good advice and recognition, and then add tangible forms of generosity as circumstances permit. Do what you can, when you can, wherever you can, to share your blessings with others. - Bunyon

Doing Good Deeds and Merit with a kind heart will be rewarded. Giving is what makes humans different and nothing can bring better health or deeper happiness than enabling another person to give. Especially if you help them give at a significant level of impact. When you help others thus meet their highest potential as social beings, of course, you are at the same time helping society far more powerfully than you could in almost any other way. Give yourself permission to be a great giver for the good. Indeed, you may already be one, donating to charities that support causes dear to your heart.

How you handle money is a karmic lesson. The Universe gives you back what you give out. When you release your tight grip on money and use it to help others, you open up the flow and exchange of energy.

Please give yourself permission to be a great giver for the good. Above all, generous donation is a wonderful way to interact with other people and with the world by using your resources to good effect. Giving is what makes humans different. The further along the path we go, the more power we will have to truly change the world for the better. As a result, even our best intentions often lead to ineffective - and sometimes downright harmful - outcomes. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Therefore, I would like to tell all of you: don’t leave behind anything. We should let go of everything. We should let go of all of our attachments. Then we can empty our mind. Only when we have emptied our body, then we can have room for good things.

The one who does not want to leave, leaves in the end. The one, who is sad about leaving, leaves with sorrow. When you pass away, you can’t take your money with you. You can’t take away anything. What can you take away with you? You don’t know. You don’t know where you are going. It is as Confucius said: “If you do not know the beginning of lives, neither will you have the knowledge to understand the meaning of death.” You live your entire life without any clear understandings. When you pass away, you just leave quickly. We feel very sorry for these people. What is left behind? Rich people leave behind money for their children to fight each other and go to court. Poor people without money leave behind pain and suffering.

The Goal of Charity

There is a story that a billionaire dies and goes to heaven. The God of heaven (divine) stands at the Southern Heavenly Gates (南天门) to greet him and show him around. As he walks through the heavenly environment with the divinity, the billionaire is in awe of the celestial beauty and perfection. The gardens are impeccably manicured and filled with every imaginable exotic plant. Bungalow houses are aesthetically interspersed throughout the gardens. The beauty and majesty of heaven practically bring tears to the man’s eyes. The divine continues guiding the man down a path. The surrounding colors are just incredible.

The man turns to the divine and asks, "Where is my house?"

The divine replies, "A little bit further."

They walk down some steps. Suddenly, the man notices that the environment begins to change.

The bungalows are no longer bungalows. They are all small houses. The gardens are few and far between.

The colors are lifeless and dull.

With anxiety the man asks "Where is my house?"

"Just a few more steps," The divine responds.

They walk down several more steps and make a turn. By now, the atmosphere has altered completely.

The houses are practically shacks; the colors have turned to gray and brown; the walkway is muddy,

and all those beautiful plant life has vanished.

Surprised at such a change, the man grabs the divine arm.

"Wait a minute. My house can't be here. You must have taken the wrong turn."

"No. This is correct," replies the divine.

They walk a little farther, and finally the divine stops. he points to a small wooden hut, standing upright.

There are no plants, no colors, and no beauty. In fact, it is so dim, the man can hardly see.

The man turns to the divine and says,

"You obviously don't know who I am. This can't be my house.

On earth I had a great fortune. I owned ten houses and had hundreds of servants.

I could buy whatever I wanted. I know this is some kind of mistake."

By this time, the man was breathing fast in anger and declared.

"Whom can I speak to?"

The divine looks into the man's eyes and says, "No! There is no mistake.

We could only build with the contributions you provided!"

The spiritual world does not reward the acquisition of money. In fact, money is regarded in a very different light; it is seen not as an end in itself, but as a tool to assist others.

Donate to Charity

Make a Care Package - Most of us are all blessed with everyday items that we generally take for granted, like daily use and daily intake items such as toothpaste, detergent, medicine, uncooked rice, cooking oil, biscuit, instant noodle, etc. An easy way to be generous is by taking a trip to your local drugstore and grabbing enough items to make a few packages of necessities. You can put them in boxes, baskets or even bags from the grocery store, and then drive around your town and hand them out to the homeless or others you see in need.

From fancy cars and expensive clothes to fine dining and vacations, there are many ways you can spend your hard-earned monies. And there is nothing wrong with rewarding yourself for a job well done - but what would happen if you rewarded someone else instead? While the concept that giving to others can make you feel good about yourself, there are several more subtle ways that giving your money or time for a cause can benefit your psychological, spiritual and emotional well-being.

If you let go a little, you will have a little happiness. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of happiness. Happiness does not come from what we get. But from what we let go of.
